1. When will .NAME domain names be released?
It is expected that the .NAME domain names will become available
in the second quarter of 2001.
2. Who can register a .NAME domain name?
The .NAME TLD is intended for personal use and will be open
to anyone.
3. What will .NAME domain names look like?
When launched, registrations will only be available on the
third level. For example, if your name is John Smith, you
can apply for john.smith.NAME, but NOT smith.NAME. In this
way, the .NAME TLD will be available to many more people.
Of course, John Smith could also apply for johny.smith.NAME,
js.smith.NAME or jack.smith.NAME - the list is almost endless
and enables many more people to get their own unique identity
on the Internet.
4. Who is the Global Name Registry?
The Global Name Registry (www.theglobalname.org)
will be the wholesaler for the .names. Although they won't
be dealing with end users directly, you can pre-register your
desired .NAME through companies providing domain pre-registration
